Dr. Susan Dowd grew up in Oak Park and earned her doctorate with high honors in veterinary medicine from the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine.
Working at humane societies inspired her to become a veterinarian, and she continues to have a strong interest in treating adopted and stray animals.
She was associated with practices in Oak Park and Brookfield for six years prior to opening Arbor Animal Hospital. Before that she worked at both a 24-hour emergency clinic and a humane society clinic that served low-income clients and their pets. Dr. Dowd has volunteered with The Anti-Cruelty Society, P.A.C.T. Humane Society, and R.A.V.S. (Remote Area Veterinary Services).
Dr. Dowd lives in Riverside with her family – 2 kids (Jack & Amelia) and 3 dogs (Ellie, Raichu & Hedgie).
